BMW will end its European Delivery Program for customers in North America.
For years, BMW has allowed buyers ordering a new vehicle from North America to have their vehicles delivered to the BMW Welt building next to the company’s headquarters in Munich. Customers fly in, take delivery of their vehicle, are given a tour of the factory, enjoy a visit to the BMW Museum, and get a free shuttle back to the Munich airport before flying home.
BMW then takes care of all the processing and handling fees of importing the cars into the United States and Canada. Those who opt for the European Delivery Program also get five per cent off the base price of their vehicle.

In a recently-issued statement, BMW said that with more and more North American customers choosing to take delivery of their vehicles at BMW’s facility in Spartanburg, South Carolina, demand for the European Delivery Program has plunged.
“As the global market has evolved and BMW NA sales volumes have shifted more heavily towards SAVs during the past several years, the Performance Center Delivery in Spartanburg, South Carolina has seen continuing growth,” the automaker wrote.
“Since its beginning in 1999, Performance Center Delivery has grown to more than 28,000 vehicle deliveries, while European Delivery, which has delivered approximately 30,000 vehicles since the 1970s, has experienced a significant decline in participation. Although BMW NA has historically represented an average of 2,000 European Deliveries annually, such deliveries have declined in recent years to under 500.”
North American customers wanting to head to Germany for European Delivery must submit a pre-reservation form by May 18, with September being the final month these deliveries will be made.
