After a 6-week hiatus, Bugatti has resumed production at its factory in Molsheim, France, where the Chiron, Divo and other derivatives come to life.

Upon returning to work, employees must comply with a new set of rules, following the recommendations of the French government and international experts, put together by an internal task force.

Each worker will be given a protective face mask upon arriving on the site, which will have to be worn at all times. They also have to clean their tools before and after use, and constantly wash their hands. The company is still promoting social distancing, encouraging employees to stay at a safe distance of 1.5 meters (5 feet) from each other.

Furthermore, deliveries will be reduced and the maintenance will be kept to a minimum, while the processing of incoming and ongoing goods will be made contactless, wherever possible. Meetings will continue to be held on Skype.

“We will do everything necessary to ensure that our employees are able to work safely. Wherever possible, they can still work from home to ensure that the minimum possible number of employees are on site at one time”, said President Stephan Winkelmann. “With the help of the safety measures that we have put in place, we are finally making cars by hand again. That’s an important sign for all of our employees and our customers.”

In addition to the new guidelines, Bugatti’s employees will have to measure their temperature by themselves every morning, to ensure that they don’t have a fever. They will also have to be aware of other symptoms of the new coronavirus, which will allow them to work free of risk, keeping their families and colleagues safe.
