Last year, FCA slaughtered Alfa Romeo’s future product plan as they decided to cut capital spending and focus on the brand’s “market strengths.”

The latter is codename for crossovers as the company has two in the pipeline. However, the bigger news was the cancellation of the 8C and GTV revivals.

While Alfa Romeo appears set on becoming a relatively boring brand, designers aren’t ready to throw in the towel. Quite the opposite actually as Ugur Sahin Design has created these stylish Barchetta renderings.

Looking a bit like Alfa Romeo’s version of the Lamborghini Concept S, the model has a sporty front fascia with a slim grille and vertical air intakes. The roadster also has slender LED headlights and a ventilated V-shaped hood.

Moving further back, there’s streamlined bodywork and a distinctive dual cockpit. Each features wraparound glass and a stylish rollover protection system with carbon fiber accents.

Other notable highlights include a stacked four-tailpipe exhaust system and full width LED brake lights. The model also has a rear spoiler, a modest diffuser and an F1-inspired third brake light.

Since this is just a flight of fancy, there’s no word on what would power the Barchetta. However, the ill-fated GTV revival was slated to have all-wheel drive and an eBoost powertrain developing more than 600 hp (447 kW / 608 PS).

While the model will never reach production, Alfa Romeo is working on a production version of the Tonale concept if that’s any consolation.
