Honda has made some changes to the Insight hybrid in Japan and they are mainly related to trim levels and new genuine accessories.

The first updates made to the third-generation Insight since its Japanese launch in December 2018 focus on improving the aesthetics of the hybrid vehicle. For starters, the Honda Insight lineup expands with a new grade called EX Prime Style which builds on the existing EX trim level.

On the outside, the new model sports dark chrome plating on the grille and rear bumper lower garnish, integrated trunk lid spoiler, as well as 17-inch aero-styled aluminum wheels. The ivory interior with green accents is even more striking, combining genuine leather with ultra suede.

Honda has also made changes to the EX Black Style grade, which has been upgraded with 18-inch alloys instead of the previous 17-inch rims, stainless steel sports pedals, and a matching interior stitching for the Premium Crystal Blue Metallic and Premium Crystal Red Metallic exterior paints.

Honda Access has also updated its lineup of original accessories for the Insight. For the exterior, the new Insight EX Prime Style gains a more prominent trunk spoiler, parking sensors and mudguards.

Customers can also select an upgraded audio system that’s said to enhance acoustic quality, a front camera system, and the “DRH-204VD” camera-type drive recorder that can be linked not only to navigation but also to smartphones. The list of available accessories is obviously much more extensive and you will identify many of them in the photo gallery.

The Honda Insight carries on with the same two-motor hybrid powertrain, now branded e:HEV. It combines an Atkinson-cycle 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine rated at 109 PS (108 HP) and 134 Nm (99 lb-ft) of torque with an electric motor delivering 96 kW (131 PS / 129 HP) and 267 Nm (197 lb-ft) of torque. An electric CVT and a 1.1 kWh lithium-ion battery are also part of the package.
