Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) division will soon start adopting electrification and launch its first all-electric car in the coming years.
During a recent interview with British publication Auto Express, SVO managing director Michael van der Sande said there will not be an SVR-badged version of the I-Pace, despite it being the only EV that Jaguar currently builds.

“We will be developing electrified versions of our cars, be that fully electrified or plug-in hybrids,” van der Sande said. “I-Pace is not on that path, but there are various other things we are working on which we can’t talk about, but we’re very interested in electrification. That’s why we get involved in the eTrophy. The technology transfer, the learning applies to that car and other cars but we’re not planning an SVR I-Pace at the moment.”
While van der Sande did not identify a specific model that SVO will work on next, the magazine believes it could be the next-generation Jaguar XJ which will be all-electric. This model will feature the company’s new MLA architecture which is said to be used by a plethora of future Jaguar and Land Rover models in the coming years.
The long-awaited full-size Jaguar J-Pace SUV will also be all-electric and use this same platform, making it a good candidate for the SVR treatment. A future Land Rover crossover is also said to be in the works with the same underpinnings and it to could receive an SVR variant.
