A beautifully restored 1958 Porsche 356A Speedster is setting the web alight and looks set to sell for somewhere deep in the six-figure range.
Not all that many details are provided in the listing on Bring A Trailer about the car’s early years but we know it was acquired by the current owner in 1985. Shortly after purchasing the 356A Speedster, the current owner had the pan straightened and undercoated while the following year, the vehicle was repainted silver and also fitted with new headlight housings and side trim. The chrome parts were also re-plated.

Elsewhere, the 1.6-liter air-cooled naturally-aspirated flat-four engine was rebuilt in 1986 with modifications made including the fitment of a 912 crankshaft. The connecting rods were also re-bushed and the heads were refreshed.
The ad says the car was placed in storage in the 1990s and was recently brought back to running condition by the selling dealer. As part of the most recent refurbishments, the factory 15-inch wheels have been refinished and much of the interior has been reupholstered. In addition, an oil change has been performed, new spark plugs fitted, the twin Zenith 32 NDIX carburetors have been serviced and the distributor dwell has been set. A new Sachs clutch disc and pressure plate have also been slotted in alongside a new mount for the four-speed manual transaxle gearbox.
The winning bidder will receive servicing documentation dating back to 1985 as well as a clean Oregon title, period literature, and a removable soft top. The sports car classic has 93,000 miles (149,668 km) on the clock of which just 6,000 miles (9,656 km) have been added by the current owner since 1985.
