McLaren Bruce Study By Professional Car Designer Would Be The Perfect F1 Successor

While the Speedtail may be the closest thing to a direct successor to the iconic McLaren F1 that we’re going to get, designer Marc Senan has shared with CarScoops his dream version of a supercar from the British brand with styling inspired by the iconic BMW S70/02 V12-powered model.

Senan is not your usual rendering hobbyist or even transportation design student. He’s an actual professional automotive designer with a long career in the industry. He has worked for the likes of Seat, Fiat, and Lamborghini in the past and was the lead exterior designer for the Asterion concept. He was also deeply involved with the design of the Huracan, Urus Concept, Veneno, and Aventador SVJ. It’s fitting then that his latest creation, dubbed the McLaren Bruce, is so detailed that it looks like it has come straight from the British company’s design department.

“The car is an homage to Bruce and inspired in the iconic F1,” Senan told CarScoops. “I thing you will appreciate and I am curious of your (and your readers’) opinion.” Well, Marc, if you’re asking us, we’re totally digging it and we hope someone from McLaren is paying attention.

The car gets its name from the man behind the brand, New Zealander Bruce McLaren. Compared to the likes of the 720S and Speedtail, this McLaren appears very compact, similar in size to the F1. This is particularly evident when viewed from the side as we can see a very small rear overhang, just like the F1. Inspiration has also been taken from the McLaren Senna with a glass panel incorporated into the doors.

The front of the McLaren Bruce is very low-slung and features thin LED headlights quite different than any used by current or previous McLaren models. Like the F1, the car also has a roof scoop to feed the engine with cool air. Intriguing touches made at the rear include thin LED taillights and tailpipes exiting out from the decklid.

Of course, you can’t design a car inspired by the McLaren F1 without incorporating similar butterfly doors and a three-seat layout so the McLaren Bruce has both.
