MG fans have been clamoring for a new roadster, so there’s tons of excitement as SAIC Design has revealed the Cyberster concept on social media.
The company didn’t say much about the model, but confirmed the concept was “designed and developed by the UK & Shanghai Design team.” They also hinted there might be more to the car than just renderings as the post described the model as a “preview of something very exciting in the making” and noted to “stay tuned for more.”
While that isn’t much to go on, the renderings show a stylish roadster with a long hood and circular headlights. We can also see an aerodynamic front fascia which, along with the name and lighting graphics, suggests this is an electric vehicle.

Other notable highlights include a rakish windscreen, streamlined bodywork and massive turbine-style wheels. We can also see an angular rear end with distinctive taillights.
Little else is known about the car at this point, but the company’s last roadster was the TF which went out of production in 2011. The model wasn’t a huge hit, but the car was the continuation of the company’s roadster heritage which includes icons such as the MGA and MGB.
Of course, MG isn’t what it used to be as the company has traded hands numerous times over the decades and is now owned by SAIC. Sports cars have been cast aside as the company has focused on crossovers and even launched a pickup in Thailand.
However, two years ago, rumors surfaced that MG was working on a Mazda MX-5 Miata competitor which would feature an electric powertrain, all-wheel drive and an all-new platform.
