The 6.2-liter naturally-aspirated V8 engine powering the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray makes it quite a ruthless-sounding animal but this particular example owned by YouTuber 650ib is louder than most.

650ib is best-known for his high-paced motorcycle street racing videos and was one of the lucky ones to take delivery of the 2020 C8 Corvette before production was paused due to the coronavirus pandemic. It didn’t take long for the car to be outfitted with a matte red wrap and most notably, an aftermarket exhaust system.

The exhaust in question comes courtesy of Fabspeed and has a remote-controlled valve system to adjust just how loud the exhaust is on the fly. When opened up and in their most free-flowing setting, the exhaust provides the type of roar we would have loved to see the C8 get from the factory.

It’s not just sound which this exhaust adds to the mid-engined sports car. Fabspeed says its valvetronic exhaust system saves 20 lbs (9 kg) over the stock exhaust while adding 4 hp and 6 lb-ft (8 Nm) of torque at the wheels. Sure, that’s not a big weight saving nor a significant performance gain, but it’s not inconsequential and we’re sure that with some air induction system modifications, tuners will be able to extract quite a good amount of additional power from the LT2 V8 without going down the forced induction route.

Of course, the primary reason for buying an exhaust like this is the sound and for that, this system definitely gets full marks.
