The Ford Puma family has been expanded with the introduction of the new ST-Line Vignale trim level.

A cross between the sporty ST-Line and posh Vignale, the Puma ST-Line Vignale aims to roll with the more premium offerings in the segment. To blend in, it features a unique satin aluminum upper grille and surround, ebony lower grille, larger rear spoiler, and body-colored rear bumper.

Compared to lesser models in the subcompact crossover lineup, the new Puma ST-Line Vignale has also been equipped with additional gear. The list includes LED headlamps, Ford KeyFree system and B&O premium audio, as well as seats wrapped in Windsor leather and Manacor leather steering wheel.

Additional standard features of the Puma ST-Line Vignale include Ford’s Local Hazard Information and MegaBox storage solution, which allows for 45.3-in (1,150-mm) tall items to be hauled in an upright position.

Besides presenting the new high-end trim level, Ford has also introduced the 1.5-liter EcoBlue four-cylinder turbo diesel engine in the Puma lineup. It pumps out 118 HP (120 PS / 88 kW) in combination with a six-speed manual transmission and returns 4.5 l/100 km (62.8 mpg UK / 52.3 mpg US) in the WLTP cycle.

Another novelty is the addition of a new seven-speed automatic transmission option for the 1.0-liter EcoBoost turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine that makes 123 HP (125 PS / 92 kW) and averages 6.0 l/100 km (47 mpg UK / 39.2 mpg US).

Hot Ford Puma ST coming soon

The expansion of the Puma family is not complete yet, as the hot Puma ST will be unveiled later this year. It will share the 1.5-liter three-pot with the Fiesta ST, which makes 197 HP (200 PS / 147 kW) and 214 lb-ft (290 Nm) of torque, and will be offered with a six-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive. Since it’s a bit heavier than the supermini hot hatch, which does the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 6.5 seconds, the Puma ST will be a few tenths of a second slower.

Production of the top-of-the-line variant of the small crossover will start in the coming months at the Craiova plant in Romania, which is also where the regular Puma comes to life.
