A few months after the latest-generation SEAT Leon was presented, Autogefühl recently had the opportunity to test it out in FR 1.5 eTSI guise.
As you probably already know, the new Leon features the same platform as the VW Golf Mk8, Audi A3 Mk4 and Skoda Octavia Mk4. Interestingly, the Leon and the Octavia sport a slightly longer wheelbase than the latest Golf and A3.
The Leon’s measures in at 105.7 inches (2,686 mm), two inches (50 mm) longer than its predecessor. All up, the car is 172 inches (4,368 mm) long, 70.9 inches (1,800 mm) wide and is 57.3 inches (1,456 mm) tall.

Those in the market for the new Leon have a handful of engines to choose from. On the petrol front, this includes a 1.0-liter TSI turbocharged three-cylinder offered in 89 hp (90 PS) and 109 hp (110 PS) forms. One step up in the range takes you to the 1.5-liter TSI turbocharged four-cylinder available in 128 hp (130 PS) and 148 hp (150 PS) variants. There are also two diesel engines offered, both 2.0-liter turbocharged units with 113 hp (115 PS) and 148 hp (150 PS) respectively.
Then we come to the hybrids, one of which Autogefühl tested. The first adds 48-volt mild-hybrid assistance to the base 1.0-liter engine while the 1.5 eTSI engine reviewed here pumps out 148 hp (150 PS) and is coupled exclusively to a DSG transmission.
The reviewer notes that the Leon’s added size works wonders in the cabin, meaning he has more than enough headroom and legroom in the rear despite being quite tall at 6’1’ (1.85 meters). That means the Leon is more than large enough to accommodate four large adults and a smaller one in the middle. Head over to the video below to learn all you need to know about the latest SEAT Leon.
