Hungary’s Magyar Közút has released a new video showing one of their workers narrowly avoiding getting hit by a flying table saw.

As you can see in the dashcam video that was recorded last week, a worker stood in the roadway and directed traffic to stop.

While the silver Peugeot complied with this instruction, the driver behind them apparently wasn’t paying attention. As a result, the vehicle slams into a trailer the Peugeot was towing. This sends the contents of the trailer shooting towards the worker as the force of the impact also pushes the car forward.

With only seconds to react, the worker begins running backwards as he dodges a table saw that was launched from the trailer. While the worker managed to avoid getting hit by the saw, he got tangled in ropes or straps which were used to secure it in the trailer. Despite this, he apparently managed to stay on both feet.

Magyar Közút said the worker escaped with only minor injuries, but noted they were extremely lucky as they could have been hit by the saw or its sharp blade.

Needless to say, this situation could have been avoided if the driver had simply been paying attention. That’s why they released the video as they want to raise awareness about worker safety.

Last year, the company said 17 of their employees have been killed since 2000 due to “careless or irregular traffic.” They went on to say in many of these incidents, the driver of the offending vehicle was speeding and disregarded traffic signs.
