Skoda apparently believes that the lesser its customers walk, the better, so it has come up with a new accessory designed to fit snugly in two of its models.
What is it, you ask? A scooter that doesn’t run on electricity but rather what the user ate on that day. It’s available at £120 ($147) in the United Kingdom, including tax, and can be folded and stored in the spare wheel well under the boot floor of the Scala compact hatchback and Kamiq small crossover.
When folded up, a process that requires following a few simple instructions, it measures just 49x42x11 cm, or 19.3×16.5×4.3 inches.

Made for adult use, it has a total weight capacity of 100 kg (220 lbs) and features a hardwearing steel and aluminum frame. It’s finished in black with the company’s signature green highlights on the handlebar grips and polyurethane wheels. Despite the solid build, it weighs only 5 kg (11 lbs), which makes it easy to carry around on public transport or into the office.
Speaking about the new scooter, the Czech automaker reminded us that founders Laurin and Klement started the business with innovative bicycles, before turning their attention to cars.
Slotting between the Fabia and Octavia in Skoda’s lineup, the Scala is available in four trim levels, with pricing ranging between £17,265 and £23,010 (equal to $21,126-$28,156) in the UK. For the Kamiq, customers are looking at a minimum of £18,295 ($22,387) for the base S model, and at least £23,905 ($29,251) for the top-of-the-line Monte Carlo grade.
