The owner of a Tesla Model 3 in the UK has taken to Twitter to reveal that the steering wheel of his newly-delivered EV recently fell off.
The New York Post reports that when 43-year-old Jason Tuatara was reversing his Tesla Model 3 into his driveway on April 26, the wheel of the EV became detached from the steering column.
“@elonmusk Steering wheel fell of today! Concerned that the rest of the car will fall to bits too! Can this be looked into as to why it’s happened to a car just over 1 month old! #TeslaServiceIssues,” he wrote on Twitter while sharing images of the issue.

It is understood that Tuatara and his husband Alan Miles took delivery of the Tesla Model 3 in Blackpool, England on March 20 and had just completed a 20 mile (32 km) trip on April 26 when the steering wheel fell off in the driveway.
“It was literally hanging by wires in my hand. I was in complete shock. My husband … wouldn’t have believed it if he hadn’t seen it with his own eyes,” Tuatara told The New York Post.
The concerned owner quickly got in contact with Tesla and the Model 3 was taken off for repairs before returning the next day with the steering wheel properly installed.
“Tesla confirmed that the steering wheel was not fixed to the body of the car with a bolt, and they are looking into what happened on production,” Tuatara said. “The Driving and Cecile standards agency here in the UK is also doing a full investigation.”
