It hasn’t taken long for a Tesla Model S Performance equipped with the new ‘Cheetah Stance’ mode to set a new quarter-mile record.

YouTuber Everything-Electric recently updated their Model S Performance with the ‘Cheetah Stance’ software update and headed out to Tulsa Raceway Park to see what it had up its sleeve down the quarter-mile. It ran a seriously impressive time of 10.45-seconds, beating out the previous quickest stock Model S by 0.05 seconds.

The driver says there was a 20 mph (32 km/h) side wind when the best quarter-mile time was set and that may have had a small impact on the time. Nonetheless, a trap speed of 126.25 mph (203.17 km/h) is impressive for an EV like this no matter how you look at it.

Tesla itself says that thanks to ‘Cheetah Stance’, the Model S Performance can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in a mere 2.3 seconds. That’s seriously quick and makes the electric saloon an absolute weapon in a straight line.

But is it the quickest electric vehicle currently on sale? Late last month, Drag Times pitted a Tesla Model S Performance with Cheetah Stance against a Porsche Taycan Turbo S for a series of drag races. The results weren’t all that conclusive, as they varied between the races and the reaction times of the drivers were a big factor in the races. Nevertheless, it’s obvious that the two are very well matched.
