If you didn’t already know just how accelerative the McLaren 720S is, this video may leave you dumbfounded.

While it has been more than three years since the 720S was unveiled, it remains one of the fastest cars on sale and YouTuber Automann-TV recently put it to the test on the unrestricted German Autobahn in a POV style video.

Driving the 720S is a highly-strung 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that delivers no less than 710 hp and 568 lb-ft (770 Nm) of torque, all of which is sent through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission driving the rear wheels.

When launching the supercar of the line, the YouTuber was able to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.5 seconds. That’s not overly quick as McLaren promotes a time of 2.9 seconds. Admittedly, the car did suffer from quite a bit of wheelspin when launching off the line so that may have factored in the time posted here.

Where the 720S is really astonishing is the in-gear acceleration as it took the driver just 4.7 seconds to accelerate from 100 km/h to 200 km/h (124 mph). By comparison, the same YouTuber needed 5.5 seconds to go from 100 km/h to 200 km/h in the McLaren 600LT. Once the 720S passes the 200 km/h mark, it shows absolutely no signs of relenting and rockets to over 300 km/h (186 mph) without breaking a sweat.

Earlier this year, McLaren presented the hardcore and lightened version of the 720S, fittingly dubbed the 765LT. It promises performance beyond even that of the 720S.
