YouTuber Rob Dahm has purchased one of the first wrecked C8 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray models and has rather big plans for it.

In a new video from the lover of all things Mazda and rotary engines, it’s revealed that this C8 was involved in a crash in Florida and declared a write-off. It is the same car we wrote about last month. It has definitely seen better days.

When Dahm went to pick up the car, he discovered that much of it had been disassembled, likely done so by the insurance company when it was investigating the crash and to see if the Corvette was repairable.

Looking at the images taken from the scene of the crash could lead you to believe it only suffered visual damage but Dahm finds out that the frame is bent and that much of the crash structure at the front has been damaged. It won’t be easy to repair.

Dahm says his initial goal is to get the car back up and running with its standard 6.2-liter V8 engine and eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. Once that’s done, he intends on slotting in a custom-built 4-rotor engine, making this the first rotary-powered C8 anywhere on earth. He has set a rough power target of about 1,000 horses which should result in some serious performance.

There’s no doubt that the idea of putting a 4-rotor engine into a C8 will upset many Corvette enthusiasts and purists but as long as the original 6.2-liter V8 finds a good home, we don’t have a problem with it.
