Wald International took on the task of transforming the previous-generation Mercedes-Benz G-Class and the end result looks very similar to the modern range-topper of the series, the AMG G63.

Dubbed the Black Bison like each and every other project that has come out from the Japanese tuner, the aftermarket kit uses the original mounting points and is suitable for the 2013-2018 generation of the German truck.

In addition to the wide body conversion, which has made each corner stand out by an extra 2 inches (50 mm), Wald’s G-Wagen boasts the Panamericana grille up front, a signature feature of today’s high-end AMG models. Further down, there is a new bumper with bigger air intakes and incorporated LED DRLs, while the rear bumper has a similar look and incorporates a more aggressive diffuser.

Enhancing visibility at night is a roof-mounted LED bar, and this G-Class also sports a roof spoiler and can be optionally had with a new vented hood said to improve the breathing of the turbochargers. A sports exhaust system with side exhaust pipes is also part of the build, giving the car a deeper tone.

Finally, the exterior upgrades are rounded out by the new 10.5 x 24-inch wheels featuring a Y-spoke pattern. Made in-house by Wald specifically for this model, they are wrapped in a set of chunky mud/terrain tires from Toyo.

The interior has been left stock, and so has the engine, but if you don’t find what you were looking for at Wald, there are plenty of other tuning companies out there with even more comprehensive offerings. It all depends on how much one’s willing to spend.
