The SSC Tuatara is an absolutely wild creation and the small American company has just released a short video of the supercar.
The first production-spec SSC Tuatara was unveiled to the public at February’s Philadelphia Auto Show and it is that same example featured in this video. Perhaps the most intriguing feature of the Tuatara featured in the video is its large touchscreen infotainment system in the center of the dash where the drive can touch a button to enable ‘Track’ mode which results in the ride height being dropped dramatically.
Earlier this month, SSC released a separate video of the Tuatara being driven at high speeds on a closed-off section of road, raising hopes that the car manufacturer is readying the hypercar for a top speed run with the aim of launching the car to over 300 mph (483 km/h) before the end of the year.

While the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ hit 304.773 mph (490.48 km/h) last year, it’s not officially the world’s fastest production car as its top speed was only recorded traveling in one direction as opposed to the average across two runs in opposite directions. Consequently, the race to set a new official production car top speed record is still open. Both Koenigsegg and Hennessey Performance plan to join SSC in the 300 mph club.
Providing the Tuatara with the oomph to hit such speeds is a flat-plane crank 5.9-liter twin-turbo V8 capable of producing 1,750 hp when the car is running on E85 ethanol. When filled with 91 octane fuel, it offers up 1,350 horses.
