After a slew of teasers over the past few months, Volkswagen’s Brazilian arm is ready to pull the covers off the new Nivus, and you can watch the event live below.
The Nivus is a small crossover coupe closely related to the Polo and Virtus, which is based on the MQB platform, and it will first launch in Latin America before making its way to Europe. There have been rumors about the possibility of VW offering the Nivus in North America as well, but nothing from official channels, so take that as you will.

Previous teasers and camouflaged production models have given us solid clues as to what we should expect, and that’s basically a combination of the T-Cross, T-Roc and Polo on the outside, with chrome horizontal slates in the grille, LED DRLs incorporated into the headlamps and sloping roofline. Inside, the infotainment screen will occupy a good portion of the dashboard. Esewhere, expect the usual technology and safety features, including LTE connectivity with Wi-Fi hotspot, automatic parking and so on.
In Brazil, the Nivus is understood to pack a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine, making 114 horsepower, paired to a standard six-speed manual transmission or optional dual-clutch auto. With the latter selected, the unit is believed to pump out 126 HP. Regardless of which one customers will choose, they will have to make do with front-wheel drive only.
Details surrounding the Euro-spec model(s) are unknown, but it could launch with a variety of gasoline and diesel engines, as well as electrified powertrains.
