The Chevrolet Blazer might not be as close as some would have wanted to its famous predecessor but it still is a mid-size SUV that shares cool styling cues with the Camaro.
While the name doesn’t really do justice to the Chevrolet design department’s effort, the new Blazer is certainly one of the most distinctive models in the segment, offering good looks and the promise of a sportier driving character in a practical body that comfortably sits five and their luggage.

The Straight Pipes review the Chevrolet Blazer in its sportiest RS guise, powered by the range-topping 3.6-liter V6 with 308 HP and 269 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired to a nine-speed automatic transmission and Chevy’s Twin-Clutch AWD system, which features torque vectoring on the rear axle for sportier handling.
The more aggressive RS variant of the Blazer is distinguished by its unique front grille and black detailing, along with a set of black 20-inch alloy wheels. The Blazer RS also features model-specific tuning for the steering and suspension, making it even more engaging to drive than lesser models.
In addition, the cabin of the Blazer, which carries the Camaro theme inside, is nicely built with padded materials in most places and has GM’s sharp infotainment system that features all the necessary connectivity options. There are some ergonomic issues, though, particularly with the low-mounted, Camaro-like air vents that blow air to your knees if you’re taller, but if you want your SUV to have the flavor of a popular sports car, it’s a small price to pay.
