The Mercedes-AMG E 63 S family has been updated for the 2021 model year with new looks.
Like lesser E-Class models recently updated, the new E 63 S benefits from a raft of visual modifications. These changes start at the front where Mercedes has installed a fresh set of LED headlights, a new bumper, and a revised Panamericana front grille. The front splitter has also been tweaked and is available in Silver Shadow as standard, in high-gloss black as part of the optional AMG Night Package or in carbon fiber through the available AMG Exterior Carbon-Fiber Package I.

Alterations continue at the rear with the most obvious change being slimmer and more angular taillights. The taillights of the E 63 S Estate are a touch different and have the same shape as the outgoing model albeit with different inner graphics to mimic those of the sedan. The latest AMG model also comes standard with a lip spoiler available in color-matched paint or in carbon fiber.
The interior will be very familiar to current E 63 owners but does include the latest MBUX infotainment system with a large touchscreen and a touchpad. Another new addition to the cabin is a re-designed steering wheel that includes touch buttons with haptic feedback.
Driving the 2021 Mercedes-AMG E 63 S remains a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that churns out 603 hp and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) of torque in both Sedan and Wagon guises. This engine is paired with an AMG Speedshift nine-speed dual-clutch transmission powering all four wheels. Mercedes says the sedan can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.3 seconds while the Wagon completes the same sprint in 3.4 seconds.
Like the outgoing model, the facelifted E 63 S comes outfitted with AMG Ride Control+ suspension with fully supporting multi-chamber air suspension and adaptive adjustable damping that offers three different settings; Comfort, Sport, and Sport+. Drift Mode also comes standard, allowing drivers to have all the available power sent to the rear wheels.
Braking is provided by six-piston front calipers biting down on 391 mm (15.4-inch) discs while the rear sports single-piston floating calipers and 360 mm (14.2-inch) discs. Enlarged AMG Carbon Ceramic brakes are available as an option.
“Thanks to our efficient V8 engine and the variable all-wheel drive, the E 63 offers not only outstanding performance and vehicle dynamics at the highest level, but with the latest revision of the Sedan and Wagon we have also significantly increased comfort and yet still retained the hallmark AMG character,” said Mercedes AMG boss, Tobias Moers. “In conjunction with the extensive design update, which also helps the E-Class from Affalterbach achieve improved aerodynamics values, our customers are now receiving an even more attractive overall package.”
Pricing details for the 2021 Mercedes-AMG E 63 S Sedan and Wagon have yet to be announced.
