Peugeot has plugged into the electric MPV segment in Europe with the new e-Traveller, which will launch in the second half of the year.

Available in two lengths, standard (195 in / 4.95 m) and long (209 in / 5.30 m), it has interior space for up to eight occupants. In eight-passenger configuration, the e-Traveller has 53 cu-ft (1,500 liters) of boot space left. The capacity increases to 106 cu-ft (3,000 liters) with seating for five or 173 cu-ft (4,900 liters) when only the front seats are used.

Based on the EMP2 platform, the e-Traveller is powered by a small electric motor that produces 134 HP (136 PS / 100 kW) and 192 lb-ft (260 Nm) of torque. The 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) acceleration is nothing to write home about as it takes 13.1 seconds. The electric MPV does the standing kilometer (0.62 miles) in 35.8 seconds and has an 80 mph (130 km/h) electronically-limited top speed.

Mounted under the floor, the 50 kWh battery pack offers a range of up to 143 miles (230 km) in the WLTP cycle. It supports fast charging, reaching 80 percent of its capacity in just 30 minutes from a 100 kW charger, and a full charge in 5 and 7.5 hours when using a 11 kW and 7.4 kW charger, respectively. At a standard domestic socket, the charging process takes an excruciating 31 hours.

Setting the e-Traveller apart from the rest of the range are the model specific grille, charging port positioned on the left front fender, dichroic Lion logos at both ends and ‘e-Traveller’ monogram at the rear.

Inside, it’s offered with model-specific graphics for the infotainment system which features TomTom 3D sat-nav. A head-up display, e-toggle for the automatic gearbox control, electric parking brake and drive mode selector for Eco, Normal and Power are also on the menu.

In Power mode, the electric motor will kick out the full 134 HP (136 PS / 100 kW) and 192 lb-ft (260 Nm), while in Normal, it will produce 107 HP (109 PS / 80 kW) and 155 lb-ft (210 Nm). In Eco, drivers will have only 80 HP (82 PS / 60 kW) and 133 lb-ft (180 Nm) available on tap. Other traction settings are also available, including the Snow, All-Travel, Sand and ESC off.
