The all-new Corvette Z06 is the next model variant of the mid-engined sports car Chevrolet will bring to market and we’ve got the best look at it so far.
The prototype spotted by our photographers may be fully wrapped in camouflage but there are some elements that indicate it is not a regular 2020 Corvette Stingray. Those include the huge rear wing which reminds of the C7 Corvette ZR1’s wing but is raised towards each side.
The latest intel suggests the Z06 might get active aerodynamics, which would make a large fixed rear wing unnecessary. Still, other rumors claim the active aero system could be part of a special Z07 package.

We can also spot a massive wheel / tire package as well, despite the fact that even the rims are covered in camouflaged discs – possibly hiding the fact these are carbon fiber wheels.
Still, the covers can’t hide the fact that the front axle features 20-inch wheels wrapped with Michelin Sport Cup 2 R tires. The tire size appears to be 275/30 ZR20, which is generous for a front wheel. More importantly, this matches rumors that have circulated on the internet for a while.
As for the rear tires, they are also Michelin Sport Cup 2 Rs but their size cannot be discerned in these photos. Mind you, the rear tires do look larger, which would indicate a staggered setup with 20-inch rims at the front and 21-inch rims out back. Rumor has it the Z06 will sport 345/25 ZR21 rubber on the rear axle and the photos seem to support that hypothesis.
The Corvette Z06 is expected to pack a high-revving naturally-aspirated V8 engine with a flat-plane crank, with all signs pointing to a modified version of the 5.5-liter V8 from the new C8.R race car. In the competition model, the engine is restricted to 500 hp and 480 lb-ft (650 Nm) of torque, but in the Z06 road car it could make around 600 hp. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for that.
