Land Rover and Autohome have developed a bespoke roof tent for the new Defender 110 that enables owners to explore the great outdoors without worrying about hotel reservations.
Housed in a lightweight fiberglass shell, the tent can be erected singlehandedly in seconds by simply unclipping the fastening at the rear and lifting the shell slightly; the gas struts will then take over and fully open the carbon grey fabric sides.
Easily accessed from either side of the vehicle, the tent sleeps two adults on a full-size luxury cotton mattress and comes with pillows, an interior LED light and a stowage net. It also includes an extendable aluminum access ladder which can be stored in the stowage bag inside the tent when not in use.

When erected, the roof tent measures 2.3 meters (90.5 inches) long, 1.3 m (51.2 in) wide and 1.5 m (59 in) high. While on the move, the tent is stowed flat for maximum stability and aerodynamic efficiency. You can buy the tent from Land Rover retailers or the Autohome website for €3,082 ($3,460), excluding VAT.
“The New Land Rover Defender is the ideal vehicle to reach remote destinations comfortably both on and off road. This roof tent will enable Defender drivers to continue their adventure above and beyond their journey; it’s perfect for the modern-day explorer,” said Joe Sinclair, Land Rover Director of Branded Goods and Licencing.
The roof tent is one of 170 individual accessories that are already available for the Defender and requires the official Land Rover Expedition Roof Rack and Roof Rails, which come fitted as standard with the Adventure Pack.
