With so many things happening in the world of crossovers these days, it’s easy to overlook some models, like the Audi SQ2.
Fortunately though, AutoBildSportsCars remembered the sporty high-rider developed in Ingolstadt, yet instead of the stock example, they decided to subject the MTM-tuned variant to a hot lap of the Sachsenring.

Presented last summer, the modified SQ2 boasts 473 HP (480 PS / 353 kW) and 450 lb-ft (610 Nm) of torque with the Stage 4 up and running. The extra oomph translates into a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) of 3.5 seconds, 0-124 mph (0-200 km/h) of 12.7 seconds and a 174 mph (280 km/h) top speed.
But how much ‘extra’ power and speed are we talking about? 177 HP (180 PS / 132 kW) and 155 lb-ft (210 Nm), or enough to improve the 0-62 mph sprint by 1.3 seconds and lift the top speed by 19 mph (30 km/h) compared to the stock model. Anyone interested in the Stage 4 upgrade is looking at €14,999 (equal to around $16,600 at current exchange rates) in Germany, just for the upgrade, of course, with the SQ2 starting from €44,800 (about $49,900) putting the total to €59,799 (~$66,600) which is a pretty hefty sum for what is a small crossover.
This SQ2 also rocks ceramic brakes, KW suspension and Michelin Sport Cup 2 tires, all of which are available as options at MTM.
Now that we have covered the basics of the car, let’s go back to our main question: is the tuned SQ2 faster than the 641 HP (650 PS / 478 kW) Lamborghini Urus, which is bigger and way heavier, on the track? We won’t spoil the video for you, but we will tell you that it obliterated the Jaguar F-Pace SVR by almost 3 seconds and turned out to be around one second faster than the Audi RS5 Coupe and one tenth of a second quicker than the BMW X3 M Competition.
