Acura is pulling the plug on its flagship RLX sedan in North America at the conclusion of its 2020 model year, or within the next few months.

This comes as little surprise given that Acura sold just 1,019 RLXs last year and is about to welcome the all-new 2021 TLX sports sedan. However, while the RLX is to be axed in North America, it will continue to be sold as the Honda Legend in its native Japan.

With that in mind, the Japanese brand is now offering massive discounts for the RLX, as CarsDirect found that you can get as much as $12,000 off MSRP – one of the largest discounts on any car currently being sold.

The deal looks like this: you can reportedly get a $11,000 dealer cash incentive on all 2020 RLX versions, to go with a $1,000 loyalty discount.

Based on older dealer incentive bulletins, offers for the RLX have featured a smaller $7,500 dealer incentive for at least the past six months, to go with a $500 loyalty bonus. Going from $8,000 to $12,000 sounds like a deal worth pursuing to us.

On top of that, it’s more than double compared to what BMW is offering this month in discounts for the 2020 5-Series ($5,000), while Audi will only cut $4,000 off the sticker price of the 2020 A6 after an unadvertised $3,000 credit and $1,000 loyalty bonus. Meanwhile, the 2020 Lexus GS is available with a $3,000 rebate in most parts of the U.S.

Prices for the 2020 RLX kick off from $54,900 for the front-wheel drive model and $61,900 for the Hybrid version with SH-AWD.
