Citroen has decided not to keep us waiting until June 30th for a more in-depth look and released a bunch of official images depicting the all-new Citroen C4 and its e-C4 variant.
This new-generation “C-hatch” features a new and innovative design, and will be available with gasoline, diesel and 100% battery-electric power. Its debut is set for the second half of this year.
Compact hatchbacks are very important for Citroen, given how they accounted for nearly 28% of Europe’s C-segment sales last year. According to the French carmaker, the new e-C4 and new C4 “tick all the boxes in this competitive segment, while offering a modern and characterful new design concept as an integral part of the product offering.”

In the case of the e-C4 variant, this is the fifth electrified model to be announced this year as part of Citroen’s electrification strategy. It follows the likes of the C5 Aircross Hybrid, Ami e-Dispatch and the e-SpaceTourer.
As we’ve long suspected, Citroen decided to mix and match the dynamic visuals of a hatchback with subtle crossover traits for what they deem an “elevated and assertive” stance, giving the new C4 a crossover-like appearance. The thing is, it will be a bit hard now to call the new C4 a natural VW Golf/Ford Focus rival due to its newfound identity.
The interior meanwhile comes with a simple yet modern layout, with two large displays, flat bottom and top steering wheel (though not as small as the one you’d find in a Peugeot), available head-up display and what appears to be a Qi wireless charging pad for your mobile device.
Other features include the Advanced Comfort seats and a suspension with Progressive Hydraulic Cushions.
On June 30th, Citroen will tell us everything we need to know about the new C4 and e-C4, which is also available with a thus-far undisclosed innovation for the front passenger.
