Considering that Audi’s RS4 Avant is one potent station wagon, would you be better off with it or the bigger RS6 Avant when it comes to performance?
Can’t make up your mind? Don’t worry, because the video you are about to watch highlighted this fact by pitting the two against each other in an acceleration test and a fast lap of the Lausitzring racetrack in Germany to see which one is quicker.

The numbers are on the bigger sibling’s side, which packs a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 and a mild-hybrid system, for a total output of 592 HP (600 PS / 441 kW) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque. The RS6 Avant has an eight-speed automatic transmission and quattro all-wheel drive system, a setup that’s good enough for a 0 to 62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 190 mph (305 km/h).
In comparison, the RS4 Avant will do the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 4.1 seconds and will max out at 174 mph (280 km/h). Unlike its bigger brother, it packs a V6, with 2.9 liters in displacement and two turbochargers, and also comes with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and quattro permanent all-wheel drive system. Understandably, it’s nowhere near as powerful as the RS6, as it puts out 444 HP (450 PS / 331 kW) and 443 lb-ft (600 Nm) of torque.
This would be a very predictable duel if not for the fact that 794 lbs (360 kg) separate the two. The RS4 has a curb weight of 3,946 lbs (1,790 kg), while the RS6 tipping the scales at 4,740 lbs (2,150 kg), which levels the playing field out a bit and makes things a tad more interesting.
