The death of George Floyd has sparked protests across the United States and transformed into a movement aimed at ending racism and police brutality.
While some of the protests have turned violent and resulted in looting, they’ve largely been peaceful. However, countless videos have shown police behaving badly as they’ve assaulted protesters and attacked the media.
The latest case of bad behavior is a series of videos showing authorities slashing tires for no apparent reason. As Mother Jones noted, this has been happening in Minneapolis and has been documented multiple times.

As you can see in the videos, authorities slashed tires in a K-Mart parking lot and on a street last month. In one of the clips, armed individuals pull out their knives and puncture the tires of a Chevrolet Impala that was apparently abandoned on the roadway. The group then moves to a Ford Fusion, parked alongside the curb, and punctures its tires.

The Fusion was reportedly a rental car used by a New Yorker writer who said officers when were “laughing” and “had grins on their faces” when he went to retrieve it.

Multiple other vehicles also had their tires slashed simply for being in a parking lot. Unsurprisingly, this kept tow trucks pretty busy as a number of vehicles had to be taken away and outfitted with new tires.
The destruction of property appears to be an attempt by authorities to deter people from attending the protests. However, it’s not right and no one is claiming responsibility.
