It may not sound like a huge number but 20,000 cars is a big figure for a carmaker like Bentley, who just completed the build of the 20,000th Bentayga since the model’s original launch back in 2016.
The Bentley Bentayga was the first uber-luxury SUV to enter the market, satisfying the need of deep-pocketed customers for a go-anywhere grand tourer that’s even more luxurious than a Range Rover. Since then others have followed Bentley into the segment, including Lamborghini with the Urus and Rolls Royce with the Cullinan.

Each Bentley Bentayga spends more than 100 hours on a dedicated production line, where a team of 230 employees assembles each car by hand. Bentley currently offers five variants and four different powertrain options in the Bentayga range.
The Bentley Bentayga was also the first model to introduce the 48-volt active roll control tech, which eliminates body roll for better handling without affecting ride comfort, but also the company’s first model to be offered with a plug-in hybrid powertrain that combines a powerful electric motor with a V6 petrol engine. The Bentayga Hybrid achieves an impressive 79g/km of CO2 and a combined 443 HP.
Other engine options include the twin-turbo 600 HP W12 and its 626 HP ‘Speed’ variant, which makes the Bentayga the world’s fastest SUV with a top speed of 190 mph (305 km/h), as well as the 542 HP V8 petrol model.
Bentley has just announced it will cut 1,000 jobs from its workforce as part of a restructuring plan, offering its employees a voluntary release package based on age, salary, and experience.
As for the future, Bentley is preparing the facelifted version of the Bentayga, which is expected to feature a slightly redesigned exterior look in addition to a revised interior with the new infotainment system, as seen on the company’s newer models.
