If you’re a fan of the original BMW Z3 M, often refered to as the ‘M Clown Shoe’ and its shooting brake styling, then you’re going to love this heavily customized M140i.

It started life as a regular 2019 1-Series hatchback, Rampage Racing fed it genuine M2 parts resulting in a wider and considerably more aggressive exterior. According to Road and Track, the man who built the car, Dave Campbell, sourced the fenders and bumpers from a crashed M2.

Now, you’re probably expecting this car to also feature the engine from the M2, however that’s not the case, as Campbell decided to keep the B58 3.0-liter turbocharged inline six-cylinder, which produces 335 HP in the stock M140i.

You can also find this engine in the M240i, M340i and the Toyota Supra. Campbell however will increase the power at one point, so we’re expecting this car to ultimately put down over 400 HP without the need of an M2 engine swap.

Once the car is finished, its creator will keep it around as a marketing tool, hoping to eventually sell conversions to interested parties. As for how much one of these conversions might end up costing you, it could be in the vicinity of £20,000 ($25,400) – which is pretty much the entry-level price for a 2020 BMW 1-Series in the UK.

So what do you think? Does an M140i Shooting Brake with M2-levels of performance speak to you more than an actual M2? No matter the answer, you could really make a case for it as being a worthy BMW M Clown Shoe.
