As one of the world’s most viewed car reviewers on YouTube, Doug DeMuro has a pretty wide audience and he’s seeking to monetize it further by launching a car auction website.
Called Carsandbids.com, it’s an auction website dedicated to the sort of cars you see featured most frequently on DeMuro’s YouTube channel. More specifically, people can use it to buy or sell “modern enthusiast cars”, which is a definition for “anything cool and exciting from the 1980s to the 2020s.”
Yes, unlike other websites such as Bring A Trailer, Cars & Bids does not accept cars built earlier than 1980. But what exactly makes a “cool and exciting” car from the 1980s to the 2020s?

According to Doug DeMuro, “basically everything that’s exciting, fun, interesting, or quirky is welcome here – as long as it comes from the modern era.” The goal is for anyone interested in this area of the market to come to Cars & Bids first to buy (and sell).
If that doesn’t convince you to advertise your car on Cars & Bids, here are some of the benefits offered. The winning buyer’s fee is 4.5%, with a minimum of $225 and a maximum of $4,500, which is just slightly less than with what Bring A Trailer (BAT) charges – 5% of the final bid price with a minimum fee of $250 and capped to $5,000.
As for the seller’s fee, it ranges from $49 for a no-reserve auction or a repeat seller to $89 for a first-time seller with a reserve auction. That’s less than BAT’s $99 per listing fee with the site also offering an optional photo service for an additional $250. For full transparency, DeMuro’s website will offer a vehicle history report for free. For now, only entries from the United States and Canada are accepted.
