Mercedes-Benz Vans has made a new addition to its lineup in the United States, with the introduction of a base diesel engine for the Sprinter Cargo Van.

The light commercial vehicle (LCV) packs a 2.0-liter four-cylinder oil burner that develops 161 HP (163 PS / 120 kW) and 266 lb-ft (361 Nm) of torque, matched to a seven-speed automatic transmission.

Offered alongside the 2.0-liter gasoline Passenger, Crew and Cargo, and 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbo diesel Cargo, Crew, Passenger and Cab Chassis variants, it will arrive at dealers at the end of the year in rear-wheel drive configuration with two wheelbase options.

Customers can choose between the standard roof with 144-in (3,658 mm) wheelbase, standard roof with 170-in (4,318 mm) wheelbase, and the same extended offering with a high roof. Standard gear includes the Mercedes Pro connect digital fleet solutions featuring with new connectivity and telematics. Keyless start, brake hold, trailer hitch prep package, load-adaptive ESP, metal load compartment floor, steering wheel paddle shifters, two USB-C ports, and all-season tires are also standard.

Pricing for this model has yet to be announced, although we will remind you that the Sprinter Cargo Van lineup kicks off with the 1500, which has an MSRP of $34,495, followed by the 2500, 3500 and 3500XD, which start at $35,720, $42,970 and $45,320 respectively.

The top-of-the-line 4500 will set you back at least $47,370. The Crew Van, on the other hand, is listed from $39,359, while the Passenger Van can be had from $41,095. For the Cab Chassis variant of the Sprinter, you’re looking at a minimum of $40,595.
