Police are looking for a woman who crashed an Aston Martin Vanquish into a bollard in Melbourne, Australia overnight.

Victoria Police report that the woman was driving the silver V12-powered Vanquish at approximately 12:25 a.m. AEST on Thursday morning when she lost control turning left and crashed into a bollard at a tram stop in the center of the road.

Authorities say the woman fled the scene after the crash, leaving the 27-year-old male passenger, who is understood to be the owner of the Vanquish, in the car.

Images of the Aston Martin show that it sustained comprehensive damage to the front end. The British GT car hit the bollard head-on, pushing in the front end and destroying the bonnet and front bumper and likely also damaging the radiator, among other parts. Police arrived at the scene soon after the crash and the passenger, who was not injured, is said to be cooperating with and providing assistance to the authorities.

The fate of the Vanquish remains unclear. Depending on the extent of the mechanical damage that may have been done, there’s certainly a chance the car could be declared a write-off.

Regardless of whether or not the car is declared a write-off or is repaired, the owner will face a steep insurance bill and may see his insurance premiums increase.
