Vanderhall Motors is a boutique sports car manufacturer based in Provo, Utah which specializes in three-wheelers.
The company sells three models which are actually variants of the same car: the Venice, Carmel and Edison. The latter is the model that’s most in tune with the times as it features an all-electric drivetrain.
The battery-powered sports car offers a driving range of up to 200 miles (322 km) on a full battery charge. The 28.8 kWh battery powers two front-mounted electric motors delivering 52 kW (70 HP / 71 PS) each. In total, the 2020 Vanderhall Edison 2 has 140 HP and 232 lb-ft (314 Nm) at its disposal.

That may not seem much, but since the Edison 2 only weighs 1,400 lbs (635 kg) thanks to its aluminum mono frame and composite body, the performance is more than adequate. 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) takes 4.4 seconds, while braking from 60 mph (96 km/h) to zero is done in 100 feet (30.5 meters). Factor in the starting MSRP of $34,950 (excluding destination) and the Edison 2 sounds like an enticing proposition. So what is it like to drive, you ask?
Jay Leno had the opportunity to get behind the wheel of the Vanderhall Edison 2 and was surprised by the driving experience, calling it an “the very definition of an adult toy” you can drive.
It’s fun to drive, quick and the lack of doors, roof and the fourth wheel only adds to the experience. Yes, having only one rear wheel does not affect its stability – if anything, it makes it more nimble in corners. Check out the following video for the full review.
