This BMW Isetta needs some love, not to be brought back to its former glory, as it’s obviously a scale model, but to hit the shelves with the tiny bricks wrapped in plastic and the LEGO logo adorning the box.
Currently a project that has managed to gather more than 1,800 supporters, with over 560 days left to convince another 8,200 people or so to click on the blue button, it manages to echo the design of the real microcar, which stayed in production from 1953 to 1961.

According to the builder, it is 8.66 inches (220 mm) long, 5.20 inches (132 mm) wide and 5.04 inches (128 mm) tall, and it’s made of 851 LEGO bricks. That’s less than a quarter compared to the official LEGO Technic Lamborghini Sian FKP 37 1:8 scale model presented online last week, which boasts several functioning components and a replica of the V12 lump.
Finished in a light blue shade reminiscent of classic models, the LEGO Isetta features a single front opening door, just like the real microcar, with the steering wheel attached to it, which was tough to make. The interior sports a beige finish and includes other highlights, such as the pedals, gear selector and even a sunroof.
As with every cool LEGO project these days, this one is found on the official Ideas website, which is the place to go if you dig it and would like it to hit the shelves.
