Prices of Honda and Acura models from the late 1990s and early 2000s have been on the rise and late last week, a pristine 2000 Honda Civic Si sold for an unbelievable $50,000.
We have seen DC2-generation Acura/Honda Integra Type R models fetching huge sums on the used car market over the past couple of years and evidently, this same enthusiasm has translated over to the Civic Si.

Powering the Civic Si of this vintage is a 1.6-liter B16A2 engine that produces 160 hp and 111 lb-ft (150 Nm) of torque. While those are tiny figures by current standards and much less than other performance Hondas produced at the same time, like the S2000, Integra Type R, and Civic Type R, the 1.6-liter engine is an absolute firecracker and revs through to 8,000 rpm. Equipped with VTEC, the B16 thrives when drivers shift gears at the very top of the rev range.
The particular example which sold for $50,000 on Bring A Trailer was delivered new to Pompano Honda of Pompano Beach, Florida and acquired from its original owner in 2004 by the seller who moved the car to Washington.
It is finished in a lovely shade of Electron Blue and features a sunroof, body-color chin spoiler and side skirts. The factory 15-inch alloy wheels have also been maintained. The car sold with just over 5,600 miles (9,012 km) on the clock.
You could very easily make an argument that it would be far smarter buying a brand new 2020 Honda Civic Type R for less money than this 20-year-old Civic Si. However, there’s a very good chance that if the new owner of the Civic keeps the mileage down and takes good care of it, its value may continue to increase.
