Street-Legal McLaren F1 GTR Longtail Has Rich History, $15 Million Asking Price

The McLaren F1 GTR Longtail you’re looking at represents the absolute pinnacle of the iconic British car manufacturer and is up for sale from Tom Hartley in the UK.

We first wrote about this very F1 GTR when it was listed up for sale earlier in the year. The Supercar Driver channel on YouTube recently joined Tom Hartley Jnr. for a drive in the car, taking it out onto the road and onto a racetrack to show just how special it is.

McLaren only ever built 10 examples of the F1 GTR Longtail and this is chassis 19R. It was first used as a factory development prototype and was later converted to road use by Lanzante and Gordon Murray Design.

While it is unclear how many miles the car has under its belt, it has an extensive racing history, having made its competitive debut at the Suzuka 1000 km endurance race adorned with a Lark livery. It participated in a host of other races throughout Japan and has previously made an appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Like typical road-legal McLaren F1s, this GTR Longtail has a BMW-built 6.1-liter naturally-aspirated V12 engine. However, thanks to a host of modifications, it is thought to now pump out roughly 900 HP, which we’re sure makes it an absolute animal to drive.

The YouTube description of this video states the car has an asking price of $15 million. That seems very steep, but in fact is not unreasonable, considering that a road-legal 1994 McLaren F1 with the LM-spec package sold at auction for $19.8 million last year.
