The VW Arteon, or CC as it is called in China, is expanding its range with a more family-friendly wagon variant (Shooting Brake) that’s getting unveiled next week on June 24. But, spoiler alert!

Thanks to China’s Autohome, we can see just how different the Shooting Brake is when compared to the regular fastback model. Aside from the new rear end design, we can also see a more pronounced front spoiler lip with a chrome strip.

The Arteon Shooting Brake also comes with black plastic cladding around the wheel arches, side sills and rear bumper, and an increase in ground clearance. This is something VW has kept under wraps pretty well, unless this “Alltrack-like” variant is meant just for China. We’ll find out soon enough.

We were also curious to see if this new wagon form would mean different taillights for the Arteon and the verdict is in: same taillights, but different exhaust surrounds, which are now embedded within a chrome strip that spans the entire width of the lower rear bumper.

According to reports from China, the Arteon Shooting Brake is just as wide and tall as the original sedan version, with an identical wheelbase too. It has however grown in length, from 4,865 mm (191.5 in) to 4,869 mm (191.7 in).

Visible features include the LED lights, panoramic roof, privacy glass and both 18- as well as 19-inch wheels.

In China, the Arteon will continue to utilize a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline unit, with 186 HP in 330 TSI spec, and 220 HP for the 380 TSI. Both configurations will use a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox, while the German carmaker’s 4MOTION all-wheel drive system is also expected to be available.
