If you’re a fan of the Ford Mustang, or any muscle car for that matter, you might have heard of the Equus Bass 770, first unveiled in 2013.
The car, recently featured on an episode of Ridiculous Rides from Barcroft Cars, isn’t cheap. In fact, prices range from $230,000 to $250,000. For that money, you could buy 10 used sixth-generation Ford Mustangs. Is it worth it? We’ll let you decide.
While it may resemble a Mustang, underpinning the car is an all-aluminum frame and the Bass doesn’t feature a typical Mustang engine – nor an engine from any Ford for that matter. It sports a 6.2-liter LS9 supercharged V8 from the C6 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 that churns out 640 hp at 6,500 rpm and 605 lb-ft (819 Nm) of torque.

Equus claims the Bass can launch to 62 mph (100 km/h) in a mere 3.4 seconds and continue through to a 200 mph (320 km/h) top speed. When you give a car so much power, it’s generally wise to upgrade the braking system and Equus has done just that, fitting Brembo carbon-ceramic discs and enlarged calipers. Additionally, the car includes magnetic suspension to ensure it can handle all that power.
Visually, the bodywork of the car is made from a mixture of aluminum and carbon fiber. It combines the same recognizable shape as regular Mustang models and pairs it with unique styling elements that take inspiration from some other cars, seemingly including the Dodge Challenger, based on the shape of the taillights.
