A second-generation Mercedes GLC crossover is currently in development, with the first prototype coming out to play last month in public.
Thanks to our spy photographers, we were able to gather that the new model will feature a longer and sleeker appearance compared to its predecessor (aka the current model), despite the fact that it was fully camouflaged.
Still, we do know that the new GLC will ride on the same platform as the upcoming next-gen C-Class, featuring electrified powertrains with mild-hybrid assistance, as well as plug-in hybrid technology.

As for what’s going on underneath the camo of the next GLC, the folks at Kolesa decided to give it a go and render the vehicle based on the prototype’s overall shape and everything else we know regarding Mercedes’ latest Sensual Purity design language.
Details such as the upwards sloping shoulder line may have been exaggerated a bit, but the car’s muscular rear fenders could stand true, much like the design of the headlights, which could resemble those on the E-Class facelift. However, it’s tough to say if the taillights will come out as “flat” as seen in this illustration.
Inside, the next-gen GLC should boast Mercedes’ latest MBUX software, to go with a fully-digital center console, like we’ll get in the upcoming new C-Class – this would mean a slightly more high tech interior than in the EQC.
Mercedes’ latest weapon against the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and the rest of this segment will likely debut next year as a 2022MY car.
