When the 2020 Toyota Supra was launched, it was considered a well-priced sports car that offered good performance and a nice driving experience. Just a few months later however, the C8 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray was introduced, making the Supra seem overpriced and perhaps not such a smart buy after all.
Fast forward to now and the Supra has already been updated for the 2021 model year, while customers who’ve ordered a 2020 Corvette will need to wait quite a while before taking delivery.
While we suspect most C8 shoppers will be willing to wait a few months for their ‘Vettes, a Toyota dealership in Shreveport, Louisiana, is trying to capitalize on those who want a sports car but without the wait.

A member over at the Corvette Forum recently came across a billboard from the dealer that reads, ‘Still waiting on a Corvette? Come get your Supra’. The billboard comes complete with a large photo of the Japanese sports car.
Prices for the 2021 Supra start at $50,990. That is $1,000 more than the 2020 model but considering the new one has 47 hp and 3 lb-ft (4 Nm) more, and benefits from various chassis upgrades, that price hike isn’t of concern. What is of concern, however, is that it pushes the Supra’s price closer to that of the Corvette Stingray that starts at a mere $59,995.
Admittedly, there are far fewer options available on the Supra than there are with the Corvette, meaning most Supra models sold will be around that $50,990 mark, while C8 customers can spec out their vehicles to over $100,000.
Despite that fact, we are doubtful this billboard alone with convert any Corvette customers into Supra enthusiasts.
