With stay-at-home orders beginning to lift across the U.S., many Americans are already making vacation plans, and if those plans include driving somewhere with your family, then a large vehicle such as an SUV will be ideal.

This is where the VW Atlas comes in. It already boasts loads of standard and available features, but if you want to make it road trip-proof, the German carmaker has a few accessories for you to consider.

These include a Universal Tablet holder, floor and trunk liners, trailer hitch attachments and multiple rooftop cargo options, among others. But let’s check them out one by one.

The Universal Tablet Holder can help rear seat occupants enjoy some hands-free entertainment, as long as they have a tablet with an existing data plan. You can also use the Car-Net Hotspot, which allows you to connect up to four compatible devices simultaneously. The holder comes with two shopping hooks for added utility.

If you’re going off-road, VW’s Muddy Buddy floor liners can help protect the interior carpets found in the vehicle’s footwells. These liners feature a skid-resistant finish and are molded and designed with a raised edge, making them very easy to clean, says the German brand.

If practicality is your thing, go for the four-piece CargoTech Cargo Containment System, aimed at keeping items in place so that they don’t roll around. Also available is a retractable Privacy Cover that hides luggage and other packed items, while a Security Console Safe holds sensitive gear and personal items secured.

As for the Trailer Hitch attachments, they can help you carry up to two bikes, while another hitch-mounted hanging rack can fit up to four bikes.

Rooftop Cargo Options

Here, you have four options. There are the Thule carrier attachments which help you store recreational equipment such as skis, snowboards, surfboards, bikes or a kayak, while the Urban Loader adds up to 17.7 cubic feet of space for additional luggage or camping gear – for up to 110 lbs (50 kg).

Meanwhile, the Cargo Box Carrier adds 12 cubic feet of space, sharing the same load capacity with the Urban Loader.

Last but not least there’s the Canyon Basket Carrier, which can hold up to 150 lbs (68 kg), while a Stretch Cargo Net can help keep everything stationary while the car is moving.
