Rebuilding your dream classic car would be impossible without the proper engine, and if that ride happens to be a Jaguar sedan or sports car made in the 1950s and 1960s, then you’re in luck, as they have reintroduced the 3.8-liter XK engine block, after fifty years.

Used to power a wide range of classic models made by the British brand, such as the XK150, XK150 S, MkIX, Mk2, MkX, E-Type Series 1 and S-Type, it was recreated to the exact original specifications and can be used as a replacement for the original 3.8-liter six-pot.

Those interested in the engine block will have to reach out to Jaguar Classic or order it online on their official website. Subsequently to providing the documentation that confirms proof of vehicle ownership, customers can choose to retain the original serial number. This will be stamped on the new casting, alongside an extra asterisk that will denote that the block is a replacement, but if they do not wish to do so, they will get it with a new and unique serial number.

For the new XK engine block, which is available globally, Jaguar is asking £14,340 including tax, in the United Kingdom, or $17,913* at current exchange rates. Each block is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Jaguar Classic. The parts and accessories warranty period is market specific and for the UK and Germany is two years, although it’s worth noting that they will not cover the warranty for modified engines or cars used for racing purposes.
