A prototype for the next-generation Mercedes-Benz GLC has been filmed during a recent round of testing in Germany.
Like other recent prototypes snapped by our spy photographers, this tester is bathed in camouflage and body cladding in a bid to hide its true identity. Despite the car manufacturer’s best attempts to cover up the car’s exterior, it appears quite apparent the SUV has a lower roofline than the current model. Additionally, it appears longer while also sporting a stretched wheelbase.
It is hard to comment on the specifics of the SUV’s styling due to the camouflage but it is reasonable to assume that it will be slightly edgier than the existing model and come complete with sharper and more angular headlights and taillights.

As the new GLC will share its underpinnings with the next-generation Mercedes-Benz C-Class, it will be sold with an array of electrified powertrains that includes mild-hybrid assistance for the full range of four- and six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines.
This video includes a brief peak into the interior of the new SUV but it does really show much. However, CarScoops understands that the latest GLC’s cabin will be dramatically improved over the outgoing model thanks to the use of the company’s latest MBUX infotainment system that includes a fully digital instrument cluster. There will also be a plethora of new driver assistance systems.
The next-generation Mercedes-Benz GLC can be expected to hit dealerships in 2022 meaning we will likely see it unveiled next year.
