The Ariel Nomad is a vehicle unlike any other and has just become all the more desirable with the release of the Nomad R, a range-topping variant that will be capped at just five units.
Ordinarily, the Ariel Nomad is powered by a screaming K24 2.4-liter Honda VTEC engine with 235 HP but should customers want some added grunt, they can opt for a supercharged version with 290 HP and 251 lb-ft (340 Nm) of torque. By comparison, the Nomad R features the 2.0-liter four-cylinder of the 2015-2017 Honda Civic Type R but boosted by a supercharger and now delivering 335 HP at 7,600 rpm and 243 lb-ft (329 Nm).

Mated to this engine is a Sadev six-speed manual transmission that features straight-cut gears and dog rings. It also features pneumatic shifts meaning you don’t really need to use the clutch pedal. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a limited-slip differential.
Ariel says the limited-run Nomad R can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 2.9 seconds while sprinting through to a top speed of 121 mph (195 km/h).
Customers will have the option of two suspension setups, one featuring Bilstein MDS shocks with adjustments for compression and rebound, and the other using adjustable Ohlins shocks. Coming standard are 18-inch wheels with Yokohama A052 high-performance tires. The car also sports beefy four-piston front brake calipers.
Given the car’s limited production run, it comes as no surprise that it isn’t cheap. In fact, it starts at £77,400 (~$98,000) in the UK. Three of the five examples have already been sold.
