Dodge has introduced the facelifted Durango and its all-new Hellcat variant.
Starting with the latter, the Hellcat is powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine that produces 710 hp (529 kW / 720 PS) and 645 lb-ft (874 Nm) of torque. It is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission and a standard all-wheel drive system.
This setup enables the model to rocket from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in a ridiculous 3.5 seconds. The SUV also has a top speed of 180 mph (290 km/h) and can run the quarter mile in 11.5 seconds. If those specs weren’t crazy enough, the Hellcat can also tow 8,700 lbs (3,946 kg).

To keep things under control, engineers gave the Durango Hellcat a sport-tuned suspension and 20-inch wheels wrapped in Pirelli Scorpion Zero tires. The latter are backed up by a Brembo braking system that features six-piston calipers and 15.8 inch (401 mm) discs up front. Out back, there are four-piston calipers and 13.8 inch (351 mm) discs.
On the styling front, the Hellcat has an aggressive front fascia with a mesh grille, a chin splitter and boomerang-shaped air intakes. The model also has a ram air hood, a unique rear spoiler and a sizable dual exhaust system.
The cabin has been significantly improved as it features a new dashboard that echoes the one found in the Challenger. The model also has a revised center stack, new switchgear and a Uconnect 5 infotainment system with a 10.1-inch display (lesser models get an 8.4-inch display).
The high-performance model comes nicely equipped with heated / ventilated Nappa leather seats that feature suede accents as well as embroidered Hellcat logos. There is also flat-bottomed steering wheel with paddle shifters.
The Durango SRT Hellcat will arrive at dealerships early next year and the company will begin accepting orders this fall. However, Dodge said the Hellcat will only be available for the 2021 model year.
Besides the Hellcat, Dodge also introduced the facelifted Durango. It features many of the same changes including an updated front fascia with a revised grille and restyled headlights.
The model also has updated wheels and a new Tow N Go Package for the Durango R/T. The latter adds an assortment of SRT goodies including “wheels and tires, Brembo brakes, flares and sills, exhaust with tips and a lower valance.”
Engine options carryover and include an entry-level 3.6-liter V6 that pumps out 295 hp (220 kW / 299 PS) and 260 lb-ft (352 Nm) of torque. Customers can also opt for a 5.7-liter HEMI V8 with 360 hp (268 kW / 365 PS) and 390 lb-ft (528 Nm) of torque.
Last but not least, there’s the Durango SRT 392 which has a 6.4-liter HEMI V8 that develops 475 hp (354 kW / 482 PS) and 470 lb-ft (637 Nm) of torque. While it’s not as fast as the Hellcat, it can still run from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in an impressive 4.4 seconds.
Orders for the standard model will open this summer and deliveries will begin in the fall.
