Genesis will launch a second body style of the G70 alongside the facelifted iteration, and after being spotted in South Korea last month, the model has now been taken to Europe, where our spy photographers managed to snap this prototype.
As you can see, nothing has changed in terms of camouflage, because most of the exterior remains under wraps and that big hump is still present at the back, masking one of two possible body styles: either a Shooting Brake or a fastback.
We’re inclined to think it’s the latter, given the unorthodox positioning of the roof antenna, as well as the shape of the rear side windows.

Besides the more arched roofline behind the B pillars and new angle of the C pillars, the G70 Shooting Brake / Fastback will boast looks inspired by the larger G80 sedan and GV80 SUV. These will include the split horizontal headlamps and taillights, whereas other upgrades will include the usual bumper revisions and perhaps a slightly bigger grille. This is also the route chosen by the regular sedan. Ultimately, everything could be sprinkled with new colors and wheels.
Hyundai wants to launch the Genesis luxury brand in Europe, probably as early as this year, and the second body style of the G70 will play a pivotal role, as either a Volkswagen Arteon or Arteon Shooting Brake rival.
We should find out more about it in the next few months, as testing advances and the camouflage starts dropping. Still, we wouldn’t hold our breath for an official unveiling until the first half of 2021.
