We recently wrapped up testing a pair of 2021 Kia K5s, and the company has showcased their dynamic potential in a so-called “Triple Threat Stunt.”
Performed earlier this week during a live streaming event, the stunt features three different K5s and a lot of build up.
If you want to skip to the action, fast forward to the 11:05 mark. From there, you can see two K5s speed towards a ramp in opposite directions. As this is happening, a third K5 makes a beeline for the space between the ramps. The two blue models successfully make the jump as the third does a 180° slide underneath them.

The stunt is pretty impressive and it was performed by Sean Graham, Jalil Jay and Brionna Lynch. They used modified K5s which were outfitted with a roll cage and a stripped out interior.
This is just the first in a series of stunts as the next will feature the “first-ever flat spin 360°.” The stunts are part of a multi-channel marketing campaign that embraces Kia’s “Give It Everything” philosophy.
The campaign will include print, digital, social and broadcast components, and Kia Motors America’s director of marketing operations, Russell Wager, said “The all-new K5 is a completely new direction for Kia and the midsize sedan category overall, so we needed a marketing campaign that was as dynamic and action packed as the vehicle itself.”
The 2021 Kia K5 replaces the Optima and features a bold new design, two turbocharged engines and an optional all-wheel drive system. The entry-level 1.6-liter four-cylinder produces 180 hp (134 kW / 183 PS) and 195 lb-ft (264 Nm) of torque, while the K5 GT has a 2.5-liter four-cylinder pumping out 290 hp (216 kW / 294 PS) and 311 lb-ft (421 Nm) of torque. The latter engine is connected to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission which enables the car to run from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 5.8 seconds.
